Enough

Having and Being Enough

“You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.”
— Maya Angelou

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more!”
— Melody Beattie

We are pleased to share our recap and recording from our Women’s Forum program: Having and Being Enough. We are so grateful for the return of a past Women’s Forum speaker, Lisa Guillot, an accomplished author and mindset coach. Lisa led a powerful session that delved into the concept of “enough-ness” and its impact on various aspects of our lives.

The video is a must watch, but here are a few takeaways!

Be aware of the “Not Enough” or “Too Much” Trap – and how to avoid it

  • Women can get stuck between the “good girl” syndrome as societally we have been rewarded and reminded to stay small, be likeable and agreeable. We are told to “keep the peace, be supportive.
  • We can fall into the “backlash zone” if we are too confident, we are perceived as arrogant, too emotional, unstable, or too direct and aggressive.if we are perceived as being “too much”: If too confident, we are arrogant, too emotional, unstable, too direct, aggressive!
  • Result: It creates a chronic state of self-doubt. Leads to excessive apologizing, second guessing ourselves, minimizing ourselves.
  • We don’t need to claim our enoughness, or earn it, it is about standing in it – since we already are!
  • Pause and reflect on your lived proof of being enough – these are reminders. Remind yourself that this proves you are enough.
  • Use somatic strategies. Connect with your body and the feeling of enough.

Strategies & Resources

QUIZ: Lisa offered a quiz to uncover our creative leadership style to help us better understand how we lead best when rooted in our “enoughness.” You can find it at: bebrightlisa.com/quiz/.

REFLECTION: Lisa led us through a 10-minute reflective meditation and opportunity to capture our insights from this reflection as a tool to stand in our “enoughness.” You will find it at 33-minutes in the video.

And be sure to reach out to either Barbara or Nancy to explore your feelings of having and being enough, including financially – or to discuss any other of our Women’s Forum topics.
